MS The World‘s Residents are a community-at-sea with high-end real estate onboard a ship. Their expectation of five-star service extends to all onboard communications (including the daily publications, menus, custom port guides, weekly entertainment programming, expedition programming, and special edition publications). These communications needed to be designed and proofread in real-time onboard the ship—which was my role to ensure. 

 

As the onboard copy-editor/graphic designer, I was not only tasked with maintaining the brand's design and copy standards through all communications, but also proposing new approaches to improve upon the existing systems which led to positive results.

A special publication featured here was for the Festive Season, the ship's holiday programming, that year set in Australia. Given full creative control, I opted for a slightly different visual approach that spoke to the landscape and offered the Residents an extra special preview to their travels ahead. Earthy and textured paper sourced directly in Sri Lanka served as the setting for whimsical collages of classic holiday narratives made from clippings of flora and animals endemic to Australia.
